Doing your own wedding flowers?
Below is some general flower care to help you prepare for doing your own designs. We ask for a minimum of 2 weeks notice for bulk cut flowers. All Flowers are sold in bulk-growers bunches, typically sold in 10 stem, 25 stem or Growers Bunches. To see our current flower selection you can visit our other website: www.bouldercreekflowers.com
This helpful website also has Floral Identification to guide you what certain flowers look like. Please remember that flowers are a product of nature and exact varieties / colors of flowers may not be available at all times of the year. If you call us or come in we can print you a copy of a price list from the past of a date that is around your wedding date to help you determine what flowers are typically in season.
~ Flower Care ~
Cut Flowers / Greenery
All cut flowers must be cleaned and cut immediately upon arrival to location.
~ First prepare CLEAN buckets with fresh water
~ Remove all the packaging
~ Remove ANY foliage that is below the water (leaves in the water will cause more bacteria to form which will shorten the life of your flowers)
~ Give each Flower a fresh cut preferably with a sharp knife or floral shears
~ Place them in fresh clean room temperature water. DO NOT OVER CROWD the buckets, flowers need space to open and breathe. If the flowers are packed too tightly, they will mold and bruise.
~ Place buckets/vases out of the direct sunlight and away from heat. Best place to store flowers is in the basement or garage.
~ Repeat these steps every 2-3 days to ensure healthy long lasting cut flowers.
~ If flowers become soft or wilted change the water and give a new fresh cut to the stems.
Floral Arrangements / Bouquets in water
~ First take design work out of Boxes/packaging
~ Place designs out of the direct sunlight and away from heat. Best place to store flowers is in the basement or garage.
~ DO NOT OVER CROWD the arrangements, flowers need space to open and breathe. If the flowers are packed too tightly, they will mold.
~ DO NOT REFIGERATE Designs (unless specially instructed to do so by our Floral Staff)
Household refrigerators are not the same as our walk in cooler. Most flowers will become frost bitten and transparent if left in household refrigerators.
~ Check water level everyday and add water as needed using only clean fresh water.
It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to follow these simple instructions to ensure healthy long lasting flowers.
Corsages / Boutonnieres / Lei’s / Gardenias / Stephanotis / Other Stem less Flowers
~ Leave corsages/boutonnieres/leis in the packaging provided until it is time to be worn.
~ Place boxes in refrigerator NOT FREEZER immediately to ensure freshness.
~ DO NOT place next to fan inside refrigerator (or where the cold air gets blown in) to avoid possible frost bite.
